Fundraising
This year, our goal is to raise 5000 CAD by May 2021 for the IDRF Project: Providing Food Relief to Yemen.
Yemen remains the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Over two-thirds of the population, about 24 million people, are at risk of “serious health conditions or even death due to severe food insecurity.” (IDRF) Ongoing hostilities have displaced 3.56 million people, leaving 80% of the population in need of aid.
RefugeAid U of T is working with IDRF to collaborate with local partners within the Abyan and Lahj internally displaced persons (IDP) camps to provide food, and essential hygiene products for those in need.
The food packages distributed to the families include items like 20 kg of wheat flour, 10 kg of rice, 5 kg of sugar, 3 kg of milk powder, 500g of biscuits, 5 cans of beans, and one liter of oil. Prior to being distributed directly to the families, a representative of IDRF checks all packages to ensure quality.
While every dollar is a step closer to a full stomach, donations of 60 CAD helps one family with essential hygiene items and food for one month. A donation of 120 CAD helps two families, and a donation of 240 CAD helps 4 families. Click the link below to check out our fundraiser!
